Gifting Travel for the Holidays: How-To

wrapped christmas gifts under a tree

Are you gifting travel to your family this year but aren't sure how to actually gift it?  Here are a few ideas!

  • Fill a box with hints about what they're doing or where they're going.  When we gifted our children a  weekend at Great Wolf Lodge a few years ago, we filled the box with wolf ears for each of them, new swimsuits for everyone, number balloons for the date that we were leaving and a simple, handmade puzzle (out of construction paper) that told them which month we were going.
  • Make some faux tickets that have each person's names and location of where you're going.  Could be plane tickets, boarding passes, ski passes, whatever!
  • When we gifted our kids a trip to Disney World, there was a box with a Disney gift card for each of them (their spending money for the trip), their magic bands and a countdown chain to hang up since we wouldn't be leaving for several more months.
  • Wrap up a book or two about the location you'll be visiting.
  • Write down a bunch of hints/clues and turn in into a scavenger hunt!
  • A friend who gifted a trip to Hawaii purchase a suitcase for each person and then filled it with items they would need for their trip.  Sunglasses, swimsuits, sunscreen, hats, sandals, etc., and then topped it off with a plastic lei.

The ideas are endless!  Be creative and have fun!  Need some last minute travel gifts to fill those stockings, boxes or suitcases?  Check out my Amazon store, where I have all of my favorite travel items for every travel destination!
